The End of an Era
In loving memory of my dear grandmother, Vivian Phillips
1917-October 22, 2008
Tonight we met to honor the memory of my grandmother and witness the passing of a generation in our family. No words of my own can capture the essence of one whose love I never doubted even when at odds. So I offer the words of others in my stead.
The following was penned by my aunt. The sentiments I share.
In closing I offer grandma's own words, penned in 1970.
"When they arrive at the gates of death, God welcomes those who love Him." Psalm 116:15 (The Message)

It feels like the end of an era,
Countless generations grew up in that yard,
All of which learned from the wisdom & kind hearted nature of
OUR GRANDMA of the Neighborhood...Anthony
The following was penned by my aunt. The sentiments I share.
My Mother, my Mom
my buddy, my pal
we have traveled
many a mile.
Through good times and bad,
happy and sad.
If I was allowed to choose my mother
I wouldn't choose any other

In closing I offer grandma's own words, penned in 1970.
Work only for Jesus
I washed my hands this morning
So very clean and white
And gave them both to Jesus
To work for Him til' night
Little feet be careful where you take me to
Only work for Jesus must you let me doVivian Phillips
